As the central innovation agency for the Government of Saskatchewan, Innovation Saskatchewan is responsible for implementing the province's innovation priorities and growing the technology sector. Innovation Saskatchewan develops policies and programs and conducts activities that assist in the implementation of research & development, science, and technology for the province. This includes development and operation of Saskatchewan’s research and technology parks in Saskatoon and Regina.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Facilities Information Manager, the CAD Technologist will be responsible for maintaining as-built records of Innovation Saskatchewan’s buildings and site information in Regina and Saskatoon, critical to the Research & Technology Park Operations. The CAD Technologist is also responsible for maintaining archival data regarding fire and safety documents and hazardous building materials.
Primary Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide support to establish and maintain a central repository of building and park infrastructure information
- Support departments to develop as-built documentation related to hazardous materials, fire/life safety, evacuation plans, janitorial contracts and access control
- Prepare graphic documents
- Under direction of the Facilities Information Manager, assist with the production of full architectural working drawing packages including floor plans, elevations, building sections, wall details, millwork details and other information as required to ensure a complete specification using AutoCAD and/or Revit software
- Update existing AutoCAD files and set up project/drawing sets in AutoCAD
- Update base plans monthly and fire/life safety documents as required and upload to intra-office webpage
- Under the direction of the Facilities Information Manager, monitor and maintain the corporate Asbestos Management Program, including the creation and updates of hazardous building material base plans
- Maintain the technical resources library
- Prepare Schedule A drawings upon request
- Support all corporate departments with AutoCAD-related issues
What We Want from You
- Three years’ experience contributing to the development of contract drawings and project specifications for commercial interior projects is preferred.
- Three years’ experience working with AutoCAD 2010 or better is required.
- Drive to be innovative and creative in your work and be a problem solver
- Ability to be a collaborative team player with good interpersonal skills who can also function independently with a high level of initiative
- Exceptional communication skills and strong organizational techniques and skills
- Ability to multitask and maintain composure during high pressure situations
- Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Architectural Technology Diploma required
- Experience with AutoCAD and Adobe Acrobat DC required
- Experience with Revit preferred.
