Girls Learning Code: Gamemaking with Scratch

Innovation Place, Saskatoon, SK
October 5, 2019 - 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Why learn about Gamemaking?  From Checkers, to Super Mario Bros, to Angry Birds… we think games are awesome!

Kids Learning Code is excited to combine the power of play with basic design and programming skills in this hands-on workshop. This experience offers learners the opportunity to create their very own digital games in a super fun environment. At the end of the workshop, each learner will also have a chance to beta test their game with their peers. Each Gamemaking with Scratch workshop has the same flow, but different activities. Come and create a new game every time!

What will I have learned by the end of this workshop?

  • Create algorithms in Scratch
  • Design sprites in Scratch
  • Use conditionals to control what happens in my project
  • Use loops to make things happen more than once
  • Use variables to track things in my project
  • Use the Scratch account I made to KEEP CODING!

This workshop is for girls ages. Our workshops are designed to give learning experiences that are fun, engaging, empowering and inspirational. Through hands-on, collaborative, project-based learning, girls end the workshop having built something. This workshop experience is designed to help girls see technology in a whole new light – as a medium for self-expression, and as a means for changing the world. This workshop is designed for beginners.
