The Opportunity

Reporting to the Executive Director of International Engagement, the International Engagement & Research Analyst will play an important role in advancing the agency’s International Engagement plan, including conducting detailed research and analysis on international market opportunities, potential partners and government policies.  

The ideal candidate understands the strengths and goals of Saskatchewan’s innovation ecosystem and can help identify international opportunities to drive new collaborations and initiatives that elevate Saskatchewan’s profile as a global research and innovation leader.

Primary Responsibilities

 Duties include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Supporting the ongoing evaluation and execution of the agency’s International Engagement plan. 
  • Conducting research and providing analysis on new and emerging market trends, policy developments, and opportunities and issues in priority markets that may impact Saskatchewan’s innovation sector. 
  • Helping identify events, program elements and other opportunities for international missions led by senior level government and agency officials. 
  • Preparing and writing documents, including briefing notes, fact sheets and presentations, to communicate options and recommendations, and profile Saskatchewan’s research and technology sector internationally. 
  • Assisting with international mission logistics and the coordination of incoming visits. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

What We Want from You

  • Post-secondary degree preferably with a focus on international relations, international affairs, public policy, political science or commerce/business, along with 3-4 years of experience in provincial or federal government or an international organization. A combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered. 
  • Detailed understanding of strategic and government priorities in Saskatchewan. 
  • Strong research and analytical skills, including the initiative to take projects from concept to completion. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience in conveying information and ideas in a variety of formats to a range of audiences. 
  • Ability to connect with and develop effective working relationships at all levels, internal and external to the agency. 
  • Capacity to embrace change and navigate through ambiguity, including shifting priorities. 
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive and adaptable, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
