As the central innovation agency for the Government of Saskatchewan, Innovation Saskatchewan is responsible for implementing the province's innovation priorities and growing the technology sector. Innovation Saskatchewan develops policies and programs and conducts activities that assist in the implementation of research & development, science, and technology for the province. This includes development and operation of Saskatchewan’s research and technology parks in Saskatoon and Regina.

 

The Opportunity

Reporting to the IT Director, the IT Support Officer assists in supporting all Innovation Saskatchewan IT initiatives and plays a critical role in providing frontline service for corporate users and park networks.

 

Primary Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to, the following:

  • Providing frontline support to corporate users for desktop, server, network and software troubleshooting and incident requests and escalating requests to IT department team as required
  • Managing deployment of corporate initiatives, including computers, phones and other end user devices
  • Managing life cycle of desktop and mobile hardware and software
  • Assisting in deployment of and backup of IT infrastructure
  • On-call support for critical systems
  • Installing operating systems and applications on corporate computers
  • Maintaining documentation, including incident reporting, access permission records, support agreement records and all other IT activity
  • Any other duties or projects as assigned 

 

What We Want from You

  • Working knowledge of networking, including experience configuring and troubleshooting networks, firewalls, routers and VPNs
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills in hands-on and remote environments
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Ability to work well under pressure, make timely decisions and strategically organize and structure daily activities
  • Ability to be a collaborative team player with good interpersonal skills who can also function independently with a high level of initiative and organization
  • Drive to be innovative and creative in your work and be a problem solver.
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft 365 programs, including Outlook, Word and Excel, Smart Phone Operating Systems, Cisco IOS, Linux and Windows
  • 2 years of experience in Enterprise IT support role
  • Diploma in Computer Science
