As the central innovation agency for the Government of Saskatchewan, Innovation Saskatchewan is responsible for implementing the province's innovation priorities and growing the technology sector. Innovation Saskatchewan develops policies and programs and conducts activities that assist in the implementation of research & development, science, and technology for the province. This includes development and operation of Saskatchewan’s research and technology parks in Saskatoon and Regina.

 

The Opportunity

As a member of the Project Management team at Innovation Saskatchewan, the Project Coordinator plays a crucial role in driving the agency’s goals through assisting with the assessment, planning and delivery of improvement projects at the Saskatoon park. 

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Project Coordinator is involved at every level of the process from coordinating requests for proposals to monitoring productivity, costs and progress of ongoing projects to providing feedback on work processes to ensure continuous improvement. Our park environment provides a range of exciting projects that will keep you on your toes as you help grow Saskatchewan’s innovation ecosystem.

Primary Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Coordinating the planning and delivery of tenant improvement projects in Saskatoon, including sub-contractors and vendors as well as procurement documents such as tender packages, requests for proposals and quotes
  • Monitoring project productivity, quality, costs and schedule and provide regular status reports to the Senior Project Manager
  • Preparing and distributing construction contract documentation, including site instructions, change orders, project progress reports, and deficiency reviews/resolutions
  • Maintaining safe work environments on construction sites by conducting and documenting site orientations and job hazard assessments for contractors and vendors, managing and controlling access to the site and monitoring to ensure consistent compliance with legislation
  • Coordinating building permit applications and any related documentation for submission
  • Managing the competitive bid process as required
  • Other duties as assigned
 

What We Want from You

  • Technical knowledge of commercial construction activities and contractor/subcontractor responsibilities
  • Experience in construction estimating and demonstrated skill at cost and schedule management
  • Ability to accurately assess risks on site that jeopardize project success and present clear and thorough solution options to the Project Manager for resolution
  • Working knowledge of various codes, standards, regulations, building systems and good management practices relating to construction methods and materials
  • Good understanding of current pricing and experience in construction estimation
  • Demonstrated skill at cost and schedule management
  • Exacting standards while maintain focus on the overall objectives
  • Compliance with, and advocacy for, regulatory and corporate health and safety programs, including demonstration of safe work practices at all times
  • A commitment to working as a team to provide exceptional client service
  • Skill in developing and maintaining positive and productive working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience working with tenant projects an asset
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft365 programs, including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • 5 or more years of experience coordinating sub-contractors and vendors on multiple, simultaneous commercial construction projects of varying scope preferred
  • Diploma in Project Management or similar field require
